The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation is funding non-profit organisations to work with communities around two archaeological sites in Jordan: Abila in Irbid Governorate and Mukawir in Madaba. Projects combine heritage awareness and site rehabilitation with short-term employment schemes, vocational training and sustainable tourism. Local NGOs rooted in the two governorates are explicitly preferred, alone or with national or international partners. Co-funded by the European Union.
