Arc Raiders Multiplayer: Top Abilities for Clutching 1v3 Situations

We’ve all been there. You’re deep in a run, your inventory is packed with valuable scrap, and suddenly the distinct sound of enemy footsteps echoes nearby. Before you can even call out to a teammate, you realize the grim reality: you are completely on your own, and a full three-man squad is thirsting for your loot.

In many extraction shooters, getting jumped by a trio as a solo player is an automatic ticket back to the lobby. But Arc Raiders handles things a bit differently. Because the game rejects rigid, locked character classes, your ability to clutch up out there relies entirely on your Skill Tree allocations and your tactical utility loadout. If you want to consistently survive a 1v3, your build needs to focus on three things: broken movement mechanics, silent health resets, and separating enemy team members.

Here is the definitive guide to the best skills and utility gear you need to turn a desperate ambush into a legendary squad wipe.

1. Top Mobility & Positioning Skills (Yellow Tree)

Mobility is your greatest weapon when outnumbered. In Arc Raiders, stamina is life. If you run out of juice while a coordinated squad is pushing your cover, you are dead. By investing heavily in the Yellow Tree, you can turn yourself into an elusive target that is impossible to pin down.

  • Effortless Roll: This skill significantly lowers the stamina cost during dodges. In practice, it bumps your maximum consecutive dodge rolls from 6 all the way up to 10. That extra cushion is often the exact difference between getting caught in a crossfire and successfully rolling behind a solid wall.

  • Heroic Leap: This increases the total distance of your sprint dodge rolls. It is an essential tool for quickly breaking line of sight or leaping across gaps between platforms to leave your pursuers scrambling.

  • Carry the Momentum: This genius skill prevents stamina depletion for 2.5 seconds right after a sprint dodge roll. It allows you to chain your evasive movements together seamlessly, ensuring you never trap yourself in that dreaded, slow "exhausted" state while bullets are flying.

  • Marathon Runner & Youthful Lungs: You want to max both of these out as soon as possible. Doing so boosts your base stamina pool by 27% and drops your sprint stamina drain by 18%. Continuous movement allows you to drag out a fight, tire out the enemy team, and force them to fight on your own terms.

2. Top Survival & Resetting Skills (Conditioning & Red Trees)

To wipe a competent squad solo, you cannot just stand your ground and out-aim them. You have to play chess. Your goal is to break their line of sight, heal up, and systematically turn a chaotic 1v3 into three separate, manageable 1v1s.

  • Tactical MK3 Defensive Augment: This is an absolute must-have loadout piece. It allows you to recharge your shields while sprinting. Crucially, it also completely suppresses the standard shield-recharging sound cue. Aggressive players rely heavily on that audio cue to hunt you down, so silencing it lets you completely disappear and reset right under their noses.

  • Unburdened Roll (Conditioning): This perk grants you a free, completely stamina-cost-less dodge roll for a few seconds immediately after your shield breaks. When an enemy squad catches you out in the open and cracks your armor, this is your literal lifesaver to get to safety.

  • Fight or Flight (Conditioning): This instantly returns a fixed chunk of stamina the second you take damage. When you pair this with Unburdened Roll, you are practically guaranteed to always have the fuel required to escape a bad push.

  • In-Round Crafting (Survival): Don't overlook this one. It enables you to craft emergency shield rechargers and medical bandages right in the middle of a hot zone using raw scrap you've picked up. When a fight drags on and you run out of standard supplies, being able to cook up fresh heals on the fly keeps you in the game.

3. S-Tier Clutch Utility Gear & Traps

A solo raider cannot win by raw gunplay alone. If you try to purely out-shoot three people, the math simply isn't in your favor. You have to use your tactical deployables to punish overly aggressive groups who think they have an easy kill.

  • Lure Grenades: This is the ultimate chaos-maker. Throwing a Lure Grenade directly onto an aggressive enemy player forces all ambient surface ARC machines in the area to target them instantly. Suddenly, that pushing squad has a horde of killer robots to deal with, turning the environment into your temporary fourth teammate.

  • Firebomb / Shock Tripmines: Thirsty squads will blindly push up vertical ziplines or crowd through narrow doorways to corner you. Planting a firebomb or a shock mine right at the top landing point of a zipline or a choke point will instantly chunk their health or stun them, leaving them sitting ducks for an easy one-shot kill.

  • High-Burst Secondary (The Volcano / Shotguns): When squads realize you are solo, they tend to get sloppy and swarm your position all at once. Swapping mid-fight to a high-damage pocket shotgun like the Volcano catches teams entirely off-guard, allowing you to instantly delete the first person who turns the corner.

The Advanced 1v3 Clutch Routine

When a full squad jumps you, do not panic. Execute this exact sequence to dismantle them step-by-step:

  1. Get Jumped: Don't try to trade shots immediately.

  2. Break Line-of-Sight: Pop your Unburdened Roll and Fight or Flight perks to immediately roll into cover without burning through your stamina pool.

  3. Slow the Chase: Drop a Tripmine or a Lure Grenade at a tight choke point or doorway behind you to slow down their aggressive push and create a distraction.

  4. Ghost Them: Use the Tactical MK3 Defensive Augment to silently recharge your shields while running away, leaving them guessing which way you went.

  5. Isolate and Eliminate: Wait for the enemy team to split up while searching for you. Find the overextended "fragger" who ran ahead of their teammates, map them with your Volcano shotgun, and turn the fight into a 1v2.

  6. Repeat: Keep moving, reset again, and take the remaining two players out on your own terms.
